They smashed the windows on me last night,
And they stole a few things from me.
But don’t you worry, I know I’ll be alright,
It helped me find what I really need.
There’s nothing like a gun to help decision,
To define the things that you hold dear.
It ain’t the money you earn all your life working,
But the hopes and dreams and promises of a next year.
There’s two ways to learn every lesson,
They say the old man, he ain’t got nothing left to give.
The easy way all you have to do is listen,
The hard way all you have to do is live.
You can’t measure a lifetime with three figures,
It was a curse that turned Midas’ touch to gold.
Misguided wishes come disguised as the wisest,
And misguided goals will leave a young man old.
In the morning when you look into the mirror,
Do you take the time to look into your soul?
And ask yourself, “just what is my purpose”
Would you bother to listen to what you’re told
I never thought I could relate to Willy Loman,
Or feel the tractor-beam of a lonely highway side tree.
Ain’t it funny, I now regret all my youthful ambitions,
All those hopes and dreams, and goals I seemed never to achieve.
